Did you know Kwanzaa is 56 years old today? During the 1960s, Dr. Maulana Karenga created this Pan-African weeklong celebration to signify African heritage, traditions, values, culture, and unity. Kwanzaa is generally portrayed as a positive and inspirational celebration with its 7 principles: Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work & Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith.
